TV MEDIA IN ISRAEL

The Arabic Channel of the Israel Broadcast Authority Launched in June, 2002 the Israel government's Arabic language satellite TV channel presents a variety of newscasts targeting the Arabic speaking audience in Israel and surrounding countries.

The News in Brief is presented every hour, on the hour; there are two central newscasts, at the beginning and on closing of broadcast; and in between, lots of talk-shows and topical programs. The channel is on the air Sunday through Thursday, from 16:00 to 00:30; and on Friday and Saturday, programming starts at 10:00. The Arabic Channel also has children programs (live or recorded), a talk show hosted by Zuhayr Bahalul, many series and films in Arabic, and telenovellas (South-American soap operas) dubbed in Arabic. The channel also features programs aired on other IBA channels (such as Politika), with Arabic subtitles. Some 60 to 70 per cent of the programs are news or news-related.
