This Week:

Program Highlights

In Focus: Al Qaeda 2004
More Info and Broadcast Times
A special Deutsche Welle investigation on current Al Qaeda activities in Europe. Today, three years after the international alliance against terrorism was formed, it's still difficult to claim real progress in the war on terror. This documentary interviews spiritual instigators, terrorist sympathizers as well as investigators in Germany, Spain, Italy and Morocco and others involved in the fight against terrorism.

Hijacking Catastrophe
More Info and Broadcast Times
This film contends that a group of Bush Administration insiders used the trauma of the 9/11 terror attacks to transform American foreign policy and shows how the plan was sold to the American public. The documentary places the Bush Administration's justifications for war in Iraq within the larger context of a two-decade struggle by neoconservatives to dramatically increase military spending in the wake of the Cold War, and to expand American power globally by means of military force.

Mosaic Special: US Election - The Middle East Factor
More Info and Broadcast Times
A special Mosaic report that examines how the war in Iraq is changing the debate in the November elections.  What was once a election about health care, NAFTA and jobs, has become to a great extent a question of "Who can make us safer?"

Public Exposure: DNA, Democracy and the Wireless Revolution
More Info and Broadcast Times
An exploration of the health effects of radiofrequency radiation (RFR) from wireless devices such as cell phones and from the antennas which service them. Though the exact scientific understanding of the mechanism of harm still remains unknown, growing numbers of independent scientific studies appear to show that bio-effects of low level RFR exposure like that emitted by cell phones and cell phone towers can cause a myriad of serious health problems.

Video Premiere

Artist: Megapolis
Song: "Karl Marx Stadt"
Country: Russia

Here's a whimsical bit of Post-Soviet nostalgia. Megapolis created this video while in Germany, where they picked up a genuine fondness for old German pop songs, like this one "Karl Marx Stadt." (That's Karl Marx Street, described as "the street of flowers").  It's rather hard to describe Megapolis, so here's what they say about themselves:

"MEGAPOLIS plays Post-Neodeconstructivistic-Retro Big Town Music From the musical debris of the old Metropolis Moscow soviet pop-legend, stalinist tin pan alley, old folklore, russian seventies revival, touristic balalaika-vodka-ecstasy MEGAPOLIS creates New Russian Folkmusic...Gagarin lives...Greetings from the space dogs...Robotim...Original Russki Guitar Band...Lets dance!" -- what could we possibly add to that?

To own the music of Megapolis, visit the Link TV Music Store.

Best Viewer Comment Of The Week
(Keep them coming. Next week it could be yours!)

Dear Link TV, My husband and I just returned from traveling through the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico and northern Belize. We decided to visit the Mayan ruin of Cerros by pickup. Beginning at the village of Consejo, we drove round Chetumal Bay, across the New River on a hand-cranked ferry, and down a road on which we encountered no other vehicles.  On the way back, we decided to stop in at The Last Resort in the village of Copper Bank. Much to our surprise, we walked into the remote palapa restaurant to find that the television channel was tuned into Link TV and an American customer was enjoying it for the first time.  Your motto of "Television Without Borders" rings true! Regards, Jerry and Constance Bailey Bartlesville, Oklahoma.   Sent: Friday, September 24
