Video of the Week

Artist: Kvety
Song: "Pasacek Ovci (Sheep Herder)"
Country: Czech Republic

View This Video Now!

Here's an oddball video and another fascinating entry for the Czech Republic. Kvety is an acoustic ensemble but with their combination of mandolins, balofon, harmonica, cello and a host of other instruments they are nonetheless considered to be an Alternative band.

The song is about an obsessive inescapable love. "I can do anything what I want, when you are away. But all ways lead to you, I see you everywhere, the clouds are as your hair." The unusual feeling of the video is accomplished with individual light treatments to each frame, giving it a vintage flickering effect. The bra-bound beauty is the only non band member in the video. The visual style is impossible to categorize -- in the words of one band member: "Director Petr Hegyi is a very strange person."

...This is the only 'reality TV' that is worth my time...

02/09/06
...I ran across Link TV a few years ago. Back then it was new and somewhat interesting showing documentaries on war in Yugoslavia. Last year I noticed that the quality of the content of Link TV has improved tremendously, and this is probably a result of more interest, donations and grant funds airing increasing high quality documentaries that are high on content and light on fat, fluff or filler...Please keep the documentaries coming, as I have almost completely switched to only watching Link TV. With over 300 stations to pick from on TV, and only one, Link TV has the courage to show the extremely well done hard hitting documentaries...Its for the people, and really for all the people of the world! thanks,

Congratulations are in order! Dear friends, I would like to say that I've never seen programming that is as imformative, compelling and meaningful as I've seen on your channel. I discovered your channel surfing channels with my new Direct TV service as I must say that I was amazed and quite literally blown away by the subject matter. I commend all of you for the amazing and important work that you do. Keep searching our globe for stories that would never be seen and heard unless you told them. I'm a huge fan and I will continue to be so long as you stay on the air.

I very much enjoyed your program 'Growing Up in the Streets: 12 Years Later.' I was in Cusco, Peru in December 2000 and met some children in similar circumstances as the four children you previewed in the show. It saddens me to see so much disparity between the have and have not. It brings back so much of my own memories of me when I came to the U.S. at a young age, alone facing a future of uncertainties. I have become so accustomed to a life of luxury and have forgotten that the rest of the world, a world that I escaped many years ago, is still like the world that children such as Willy, Carlos, Angel, and Sonia are living in. Thank you for the reminder that I need to lend a helping hand to third world countries.
