Send Us Your Comments About Islam

In January, Link TV will premiere a special one-hour program, "WHO SPEAKS FOR ISLAM?" We will be interviewing Muslim figures from around the globe to give American audiences more insight on Islam as a religion and as a culture. We'd like your comments about Islam in the post 9/11 world:

  • Is Islam a religion of Peace?
  • Who do you think represents Islam in the Western World?
  • Who speaks for Islam globally?
  • How can moderate Muslims counter violence carried out in the name of Islam?
  • Is there a struggle going on between moderate and extremist Muslims for the soul of Islam?

Send us your thoughts, along with your e-mail address, day and evening telephone numbers, and a digital photograph. If selected, a Link TV producer will contact you to record your comments for broadcast.

PLEASE SEND YOUR RESPONSES TO [email protected] AND WRITE "WHO SPEAKS FOR ISLAM" IN THE SUBJECT LINE.

Video of the Week

Artist: Boubacar Traor
Song: "Kayes-Ba"

Country: Mali

The biographical film Je Chanterai Pour Toi brought the attention of the world music community to Boubacar Traor, a musician who had achieved significant fame early on, but whom life had treated harshly. Most of the friends of his youth had even thought him dead, when he surfaced in France and later returned to Mali. The film and the ensuing CD revived Kar-Kar's career. This song "Kayes-Ba" taken from the film, sings the praises of the young generation of Mali who have worked to create the new democracy. Even with its triumphant lyric, however, Kar-Kar's delivery is as bluesy as ever.

To own the music of Boubacar Traor, visit the Link TV Music Store (please note that the version of Je Chanterai Pour Toi available in the store is a studio version of the live recording in the video).

Best Viewer Comments Of The Week
(Keep them coming. Next week it could be yours!)

"...While perusing your web site I saw the free for schools blurb, and contacted our local school system to see if they were signed up. Turns out they had a dish and the desire to get LinkTV and the other channels DTV offers them for free but lacked a receiver. I donated an old one I had in my garage and hopefully, our school system will have access to Democracy Now and Mosaic shortly! Next, I will work on the teachers to make sure they know what is available so they can figure out how to work it into their curriculum. Keep up the good work!"

"... I am so happy I discovered this your channel. I have been living in Atlanta for 5 years and I stopped watching TV because of the dominance of mainstream and corporate owned TV. I missed channel like ARTE I was used to in Europe. Today I enjoy watching TV again, and I will surely and regularly support. You are doing an amazing job. May Mother Nature bless all of you..."
