Video of the Week

Artist: Ojos de Brujo
Song: "Quien Engaa no Gana"
(with subtitles)
Country: Spain

Ojos de Brujo's Marina "Las Canillas" Abad lays down the law in this video that is visually more traditionally rap-oriented than their other more experimental excursions. This version of the video has subtitles, and knowing the lyrics makes a definite difference -- Canillas has a poetic turn of phrase, even when she makes a powerful point. In a world of darkness and base motives, she still finds light- "You say there's nothing new under the sun? Don't underestimate!"

To own the music of Ojos de Brujo, visit the Link TV Music Store.

Premiere: Monday,11/8 at 7:55 PM ET (4:55 PM PT)

"Really enjoy the World Music program. My children also watch and have gained a broader appreciation of music. They are beginning to understand that the music on their local radio station is not all there is to choose from. Thank you." Sent: 11/5/2004

"During the course of channel surfing about two months ago I discovered Link TV...it was my salvation!!!! You see I am from Australia but now a permanent resident of the United States and my major gripe with this great country over the past five years that I have lived here is how insular American people are from the rest of the world and I believe that the way television stations format their news programs is the major cause of this. People are always aware of what the weather is like and how their commute is but have no idea why people would want to fly planes into buildings and kill people, why their is so much hate towards America. I come from a country where the news programs are formatted to present the most newsworthy story first...if you want to know what the weather is like look out the window or wait to the end of the broadcast. If you want to know what the commute is like, get in your car and drive!! I have now found a place where I can find much of the news I need to know. Not only what is happening in the rest of the world but also how the rest of the world views America and what is happening in this country. Please keep up the news programs and documentaries and I will do my best to spread the word about this great station."

"Just wanted to say that your 2004 election night program was simply superb. Informative, innovative, accessible, and just plain fun to watch. You made the country seem like a small, relatively amicable neighborhood rather than the vast, polarized battlefield portrayed by other media. With such a perspective, everything is possible -- with neighbors you can work things out, because you know that everyone has to find a way to get along to live together. Your coverage of political Web sites was flat-out brilliant, absolutely nothing short of that. No one else is doing what LinkTV is doing, which is both a shame and yet a blessing that you are there. Thanks and keep up the fantastic work. It is appreciated and supported..." Sent: 11/5/2004
